The way district band works is that you have to audition. They rank all the players that audition based on scores, and the top 1 one goes to state, and the top few (depends on the section) get to go to District. They don't get the music until the first day of practice (which was Friday after school). They practice all day Saturday and then have a concert on Saturday night. So, they have this music for right around 24 hours, and then they are able to put on this lovely concert! It's quite impressive! We had planned on arriving in just in time to sit down and watch the performance. But when you have a conversation like this, you show up early!
This song is by John Philip Sousa. We love them marches!
Titled: Vivo!
This song is "Through the Mist".
This song is was one of our favorites! It was titled Bazaar.
And, last, but surely not least, this is Highlights from The Sound of Music! An oldy but a favorite!

I am quite proud of all the work she put into playing her instrument in the first place, and all the hard work they put in that weekend. It sounded great!
