First Swim!

It was not the easiest decision to make, because it is a lot of money.  And we were concerned that it wouldn't get done in time for Kaitlyn's birthday and the 4th of July.  Bug managed to scrape it out, and the pool looks beautiful!

So, here it is!  Lots of hard work behind the scenes, that you will never see, even though we paid a company to do the hard work and expertise of the pool.  Here is our first family jump in!!!
No idea how Kari managed to get in first :)
That day we had the Hills over to swim too!  Although his face says otherwise, he really did enjoy it :)  Promise!
That Saturday we worked outside, trying to finish some of the fence and pressure washing for hours!  But the pool was totally worth it!

Sunday (July 1) we went to church and then worked on installing some flag poles.  We wanted to install them so that we could install these sails!
They block something like 90% of the UV rays, so we can swim more often, even when it is bloody hot in the middle of the day.
Most of the time, they are super convenient.  Unfortunately, when we have big storms, sometimes we have to take the sails down in a big hurry.  And we end up wet.  As of late, when we have a big storm, we have taken to simply dropping the sails into the pool.  They are wet anyway and dropping them in the pool keeps us from having to try to find somewhere to hang them or store sopping wet material, as well as the pool water keeps them from blowing away.

In fact, a few days later, we had a particularly windy storm, and found out that the eyebolt we had used did not go all the way through the trim into the framework of the house.
Dang thing pulled out the trim.  Thankfully, it actually wasn't that difficult to fix, and the same trim covered almost all of the damage.  But, it certainly gave us a start when it happened.
