This week, the kids and I had no school. But hubby had a few things he had to get done before we could head up to Virginia for Thanksgiving. So, Monday, we watched Abel for a bit while Amanda worked. He's a super cute kid!
And, like all children, he likes to play with the boingy thing by the doors!
Monday was also Kari's Beta Club induction.... I don't know why I don't appear to have any pictures of that blessed event, but.... there you go.
Tuesday, hubby didn't work, but we spent the day working around the house and packing. We left around 5 pm to head to Virginia. The dogs are funny when they travel. They think they have to be in our laps.
There was a lot of traffic, and it took us a while to make progress. We got to the hotel just after midnight that night. The kids slept for a while in the van on the way up.
But that doesn't look comfortable to me at all!
Wednesday we arrived at Nana and Pops house around 3pm. Donnie and Catherine arrive about 2 hours later. It wasn't until that point that we found out that Thanksgiving was going to be at Kimberly's house. Not only that, we found out that her ex-husband was going to be there. Now, we don't think he is a good person, and we don't think he is a great influence on his own children. But that was not exactly how we had planned on spending Thanksgiving. It upset hubby quite a bit, but it upset him even more that no one else in his family understood how deeply he didn't like Danny, or how that didn't seem to matter to them when they were trying to convince him to come anyway.
Thursday was a bit rough. We all ended up eating at Kim's, though it was by a narrow thing. And it only worked because we were in one room, and Danny was in another. Taylor came over to visit with us that evening.
Friday, hubby and I went out to go shopping. We ended up getting some office clothes for hubby. Kaitlyn was also the only child who desired to come with us. And because of that, there may or may not have been some benefits for her.... such as clothes and/or treats.
Friday night was the Hokie football game.
Saturday was the Ironbowl. Auburn lost :( I worked on homework during the day, as well as packing up and spending time with the family. We left a little before 9pm and drove overnight to get home.
Sunday morning we arrived at 8 am. We slept until about noon. When we woke up, we ran to HomeDepot to get our Christmas tree, and put up lights around the outside of the house! We knew we weren't going to be spending Christmas here, so we wanted to get up the decorations to enjoy the as long as possible.
That night we hung out with the Hills again :)
