Grand Canyon, Day 1

We woke up the day after Christmas to fresh snow!
It really was breathtakingly beautiful.  But I was a bit concerned that it might make our travel a bit more difficult.
That morning we postponed for a couple hours for Grandma to go to the instant care.  She had not been feeling well, and really didn't want to go on a trip and risk feeling worse.  Thankfully, the doc was able to give her some medicine that would make her feel better and we were on our way!

We had planned our first day to be the most arduous.  We would spend the majority of the day driving.  But some of the scenery was quite pretty on the way down.
We did stop a few hours in at the cemetery in Scipio where Grandpa Dave and Grandma Jeanne are buried.  It was bitterly cold, so we didn't stay for very long.  And we are lucky to have Dan's go-go gadget arms to take selfies when the rest of us wouldn't have been able to manage it.
This is where we split ways.  The Websters went on their own mini vacation, and everyone else continued on to the Grand Canyon.  We ate dinner at a local taco place, that ran out of food because of all the tourists.  Then we headed to the AirBNB where we would be staying in for 2 nights.  The kids changed into pajamas, and then went around to do some exploring.  They thought all the rooms were pretty dang cool.  Poor Mickelle and Jonathan got the short end of the stick, because their advertised bedroom ended up being a closet with 2 beds.  They couldn't even shut the door without it getting caught on the beds.
The view from the back porch was rather lovely!
We went to bed at a decent time because we knew we would need to be ready to go the next morning.
