Christmas in Utah, Day 2 (Skiing)

If you've been reading this blog for any length of time, you know that my hubby likes to ski.  We try, if we can, to fit a trip in every year.  It doesn't always work, but we try.  Going out to Utah gave us a great time to fit it in.  In fact, we planned for 2 days!  Our first complete day out in Utah we decided to take snowboarding lessons as a family!  It was the first official day of the season, so the lines were super crazy.  I had bought the ski lift tickets, and reserved the lessons online already.  So that was ok.  However, we don't happen to have our own snowboards/boots/helmets/etc, so we did have to stand it that line.  And it was crazy!!  So crazy, in fact, that we almost missed our lesson time.  The poor workers were working as hard and as fast as they possibly could.  But there were So.  Many.  People!  Thankfully, our instructor came to find us, and was willing to wait for a bit to get started. Once we got our equipment, we started our lesson.  They taught us how to stand and how to go on our edge, and then how to go down a small slope.  Then it was time to go down the bunny slope!  Hubby and I went first, and that way I was able to take pictures of the kids coming down.

Kaitlyn went first.
Kelsey was next.  She was a little harder to pick out, so I tried to point her out.
Once she got far enough down, Kaitlyn went to go help her out the rest of the way.
Then Kari
And finally Dylan.  You can see Kaitlyn and Kelsey down in the corner with the yellow arrow too.
We all got down the slope!
And, actually.....  we weren't awful!  The instructor said we weren't even the worst he'd seen!  We took our lesson until lunch time, and took a break, eating lunch on the mountain.  After lunch, we did the bunny slope a few more times.  Kelsey and I pooped out before the rest did, but that's OK.  We still hung on for a pretty long time.  Hubby may have even tried a green run...  But we're not sure.

Then it was time to go home.  We had ridden the shuttle up the mountain because it had recently snowed, and we didn't have chains to get up the mountain.  Which meant we had to ride the shuttle back.  The line was long.  Again, it was opening day, so there were a lot of people that had to get home.  We finally got on, and actually got a seat  And poor Kelsey fell asleep.  (Again, recovering from flu).
We got home to an empty Webster house.  But that's OK.  They went to a Christmas party for the other side of her family not knowing what time we would be back.  And we were pretty wiped out from getting up early to get up to Brighton on time.  So, we ate cereal for dinner (dinner of champions!) and hung out with Pickle for a while before we went to bed.
