Grand Canyon, Day 2 (Glen Canyon Dam)

We woke up at the house that morning and started to get ready to go.  Grandpa, hubby and I drove into the town at the grocery store and grabbed a few breakfast-y like things to eat at the house.  On our way out of town to see the actual canyon, we stopped at the Glen Canyon Dam.  We had wanted to take a tour, but unfortunately, because of a government budget shut down at the time, that was unavailable.  However, we were able to walk around and across the Dam, and the kids thought that was fun.  That day ended up being a bit cloudy and chilly (as you can see from the picture below).
Close up of the happy family!
View through the chain link fence over the river.
View from the side, not through the fence.
We thought the bridge across the river was pretty neat too!
Dylan thought the fossils were pretty neat.
And Kelsey thought it was fun to stand on top of the pillars.
Which prompted the other two to do the same.
From the dam, we headed towards the Grand Canyon.  We got to see some really neat natural formations on the way there.
It was really quite fascinating to see the layers of sediment!
And all the little rivulets were impressive too.
And who can forget this little natural formation?!?!
Everyone wants to be on the Cool Bus!
