The many faces of Dylan

Dylan has become alot more animated with his face lately. I have been trying to catch more of them for posterity, but as soon as I break out the camera, he does this:

The Deer in the Headlights Face

Every once in a while, I get lucky and get one of these:
A cute smile face

Recently, however, he has been doing this one: The Ooooh face.

But this is my most favorite: The Scrunchy face :)

Squeak, Squeak...

Whats that noise? Squeak... squeak... I dunno. The only person in the room is Dylan. And he is happily chewing on a medicine dropper. It couldn't be him. Forget the teething ring. Forget the dangly ring toy. Don't even think about the pacifier. Lets chew on something a little different.

What? WhadIdo?

Squeak... Squeak... Squeak...

My kids are weird

Yup. I said it. My children are kinda strange sometimes. And reluctant though I may be to admit it, there is unfortunately, no denying it.

Take this example, for instance. I put Dylan down for a nap, and he seemed to be having a bit of a hard time falling asleep. I come in to find this:Not only that, but check out this video. He was talking/singing to himself when I left to go get the camera. Then, he kinda started to fuss. And lest you think I am a bad parent, I was just about to put the camera down and assist the poor little guy, when he didn't really seem all that upset by it anymore. Also, please note, when I peek over the bumper, I am pretty sure he was almost asleep...

And then there is this: His new nursing posture. He puts his leg up on my shoulder. Cute, kinda. Funny, probably. Weird, definitely. *Love those cute, chunky thighs*

This child sleeps with her arm over her eyes. *I know. Life as a 2 yr old is so hard...*

And this child, well I call this her "frog pose". I regularly find her like this.

Well, it seems my photographic evidence is running short. But, have no fear. I will be on the lookout for more :)

Finally

I think I can safely say, after a full month of solids, that we seem to be getting the hang of things. He seemed to be having issues getting the food to the back of his mouth. I begged hubby to try to feed him one night, to see if he could come up with something different than what I was doing. Well, he did. :) It made it super thick, and tilted Dylan's head back, and, it seemed to be just the kick start Dylan needed.

This video is the first copycat behavior I have gotten from him. I was kinda smacking my lips to try to get him to swallow, and this is what I get:

We also introduced him to a sippy cup. With a little bit of water in it.

Hey...Wassdat?

Look... It fits in my mouth...

And check this out. If I move it around and bang it, it makes noise.

Looks like he is finally enjoying it!

WARNING!

***Disclaimer: The pictures you are about to see are real. They have not been airbrushed or altered in any way. Some of them may be shocking and possibly offensive.***

On the evening in question, I was enjoying the company of the girls and Dylan who was playing in the exersaucer (heretofore referred to as Offender A). When I noticed I was hearing a sound different than what I had previously been hearing. Kind of a sticky, squelching sound. Offender B (heretofore referred to as Dylan) had apparently, and soundlessly, I might add, filled his diaper, and continued to jump in the exersaucer, thus causing something indescribably horrible to happen and cause the squelching sound.

Exhibit A:
Offender A, The exersaucer
Do you have any idea how hard it is to clean up around those annoying swirly thingys?!?!
Exhibit B:
Offender B, Dylan
Known Aliases: Chunky Monkey, Chub-a-Lub, Chunk of Love, Etc.

Yes, I know what you did. And, after you get all cleaned up, I am taking you in.

Oh, you think this is funny, eh?
Hey! Don't ignore me. I am talking to you!
I do not appreciate that. I do not need a bath. It is you who is the dirty, rotton crook.
Those precious rolls are not going to win me over. I can handle cuteness. I am going to prosecute to the fullest extent possible. Never mind that you are cute, and hugable, and lovable, and cuddly.....
Alright, Alright. You win. But pulling out those dimples is a low blow. Completely unfair.
Now, if I smile all cute and chubby, will someone do my housework for me?
No? I didn't think so....

Look what I can do!

Dylan has hit some fun milestones in the past few weeks. He is slightly behind his sisters, but nothing to worry about. He is also much bigger than his sisters were, so he has alot more to learn to control.

I can proudly say he can sit up by himself now. He isn't super good at it. And when he gets bored, he throws himself over, so we still always put pillows around him.

But he can do it.
Huh? Whad you say?
Cute, half alseep kid :)

Most of these videos are pretty old, but I figured it was about time I shared them. Some of them are kinda repetitive, so for those of you who don't care, just pretend you liked them and then tell me how cute my kids are :)

He is rolling from his tummy to his back well. Check out this cute video to prove it. I love at the end how Kaitlyn's legs appear in my St. Patricks Day (also Dylan's birth) socks. Don't pay any attention to how often my children appear disheveled and misdressed. It has no bearing on my parenting skills, whatsoever. Also, please ignore the spit up at the beginning of the video. I can't help that I happen to be a fabulous videographer and that I just happen to be in the right place at the right time. And finally, I would like to point out his "fish out of water" dance, where his whole body flops around like he is, well, a fish out of water. That is all :)

And then there is this one. I took several videos hoping for one that would work to put on the blog. Then, as I was trying to decide which one to use, it was too hard, so they all ended up here. This one, for instance, has him rolling over, but it lacks the cute socks of Kaitlyn. It does, however, have him looking right at the camera, and flashing a fantastic smile.

And then there is this one. I love how loud and talkative he is. Also, please note again the "fish out of water" dance (this time on his back. He is an equal opportunity dancer), the chunky thighs, and the curled toes. You can see why I had such a hard time deciding :)

This video is of Dylan finding his fingers. I hadn't really noticed, until this video, how huge his hands are. I guess that is a guy thing.

And this little nugget is a cute video of Dylan trying to eat his toes. I don't really thing he is flexible enough to reach them. Poor kid.

Now you are all caught up on Dylan. Next thing you know, he will be singing and tap dancing across the kitchen, reading Shakespeare, and saving for his 401K. Not really. I hope he takes a little longer to grow up. But, if he wants to start saving for his retirement, he is smarter than me ;)

Mambo

Although we are still, apparently, in the throes of whatever sickness has grasped our poor, sickly little family, I thought I would bring a brighter note to our pathetic little blog. This was taken earlier, after a particular episode of Dora the Explorer. Dora had to do the mambo for her sisters/cousin party. So, they taught everyone how to do it.

As a side note, the Spanish is really hitting home with the girls. Kaitlyn just said, "Kari, come here. Vamanos." And, whenever Kari opens a door, she says "Abre. Cierra." Of course, it isn't that clear (in either case), but its still cute/funny if you know what they are saying. Yay for learning, however it happens.

It has been an interesting 2 weeks

Kari got sick, threw up. Felt better. Then it started at the other end. Then she got better. Kaitlyn got sick. Then got better. Then, she thew up. Kari threw up. Kaitlyn got sick. They both got better. This morning, poor Kari was doing both. She would sit on the potty, then turn around and throw up. I took them to the doctor, owing to the fact that this nasty little pattern has been going on for 2 weeks now. It seems too much of a coincidence to have several viruses all related to the stomach, but not actually connected. However, the timing doesn't match up for it all to be the same bug... Who knows?!?! Unfortunately, the pediatrician doesn't know either. His solution? Get a sample of it, take it to the lab, and have it tested. Yeah. That sounds like fun.

This morning, after Kari had such a rough morning, we made a little bed for her to lay on so she wouldn't have as far to go, and put the portable DVD player in the bathroom so she would have something to keep her mind off her tummy. Kaitlyn, being the sympathetic soul she is, decided to join her. It was too cute not to take a picture :)

Life is so hard sometimes

Dylan is doing better at eating solids. Lets just say it has impacted his dietary habits. He is no longer a once a week kinda guy. And the smell. Goodness, I didn't used to smell anything before. But that just ain't so anymore :)
Poor kid. I know. Life is so hard when you have to start gumming your own food.

Listen. Do you hear him whimpering between bites :( Don't worry son. One day it will taste better! :)

Puppies and Sleeping

Pa's little dog, Trixie, had puppies. There are 5 of them. The girls loved to play with them. They would hold one for a whole 3 seconds before they wanted to trade it in for a new one. In truth, I felt kinda bad for the puppies, but at least they were being socialized a bit. Lets just say that Pa doesn't exactly have any "close" neighbors.

Kari and mommy dog Trixie. She also has a puppy in her lap. You just can't tell :)

I always look in on the girls before I go to bed. This night I found that Kari had tucked her cuddle toys into her bed, and decided she was going to sleep on the side. Silly girl :)

And this wasn't at Pa's, but since I had a picture of Kari sleeping, why not have one of Dylan? He's so cute :)
