Easter Sunday

Sunday morning we woke up to Easter baskets!
Everyone got a set of bunny ears!
I love all the sleepy eyes!
Peek A Boo!
Waiting to look for eggs, so a quick bowl of cereal was in order.
The Easter Bunny did a decent job hiding eggs for all the kids age groups.  A few lower, easy ones...
And a few higher, more difficult ones.
All their bounty!
After this, we got dressed and loaded up in the car.
And drove and drove and drove and drove.  For lotsa lotsa hours.
We got home around 8.  Just in time for everyone to get into bed.
And lemme just tell ya...
... the candy was a GREAT help at keeping them quiet and still on the 14+ hours home :p

And thus concluded the Great Spring Break of 2013!

Dying Easter Eggs

Saturday was the last full day we would be spending in VA.  The intelligent thing to do would have been to spend all day packing and laundering and doing things slowly andwith some organized thought behind it.  Of course that isn't what we did.  That night we threw things into the van as quickly as possible.  Instead, we spent the day over at Aunt K's new house dying Easter eggs.
Kelsey had a bit of a rough time, but Pop was nice enough to walk around with her for a bit.
Waiting is hard!
Love that face!
At last!  A few are done!
Growing up, I remember doing this and going around the next day with multi colored fingers.  In fact, I am pretty sure Aunt Piko used her fingers as white spacers and had some of the most colorful fingers of all!
Still walking...  Nothing outlasts a crying baby!  They keep going...  And going...  And going....
This baby was pretty happy though.  Hi Kelly!
The big kids did a pretty decent job of helping the littles out.
Like grandfather, like granddaughter;)
Another close up of Kaitlyn!
Snack time!  Dylan got a bit hungry.
Pudding face!
Now they busted out the crayons and stickers.
Karley and Dylan got a little bored and started running around the yard.
Flower!
When they were all dyed, and it was about time to go, the kids decided to eat a few of them.  While the younger kids didn't like the yolkiness, Kari was stuffing whole eggs in her mouth.
I prefer egg salad myself :)

Motorcycles in VA

Remember when I told you I stopped through SC and picked up hubby from his job site?  And remember that the trip up took longer than we expected?  Well, it was partly because of this: Pop had decided to buy a new motorcycle and it happened to be in SC where hubby works.  So, we rented a trailer and took it up to him.  Wouldn't you know it that it left Pop with 2 motorcycles for the time we were there (having not sold his previous bike) so hubby's schedule pretty much consisted of motorcycle rides.  And, of course, he had to give the kids rides...

Hold tight Dylan.
Ready to go.
Looks like they had fun, even if it scared mommy a lil'bit.
Aunt S got on for a quick jaunt too.
That's trust right there :)
I'm glad hubby was able to do some things he wanted too :)

Girly Breakfast

Friday morning I had the fantastic opportunity to spend some time with some old girlfriends from waaaaay back in the stone age of high school.  We have kept in touch through the years with this wonderful invention called the Internet, and it was wonderful to be able to sit with them and talk like nothing had changed.  Except we had kids...  Yeah, kids change everything :)
B invited us to her wonderfully remodeled house, and fed us a fabulous breakfast.  The kids ran around like crazy people and played to their hearts content.  It really was relaxing and reinvigorating to spend time with each other.
Later that evening Aunt S followed us down, and brought my 2 adorable nieces with her.
I think this hat really becomes her, don't you?

Thursday = Haircut day

Wednesday, after riding horses, we got in the car and drove our manure scented selves a bit further south to Nana and Pop's house.

Thursday morning dawned a bit slow as we had been go go go-ing for several days.  Thankfully, the only thing on the schedule that day (for the girls) was to get a hair cut.

Kaitlyn (before)
While I have cut her bangs, I really don't think Kaitlyn has ever had a hair cut.  Unless you count the removal of the baby mullet...  which I don't.
But she wanted to follow big sister's example and donate, and I really, really love the result.
It is pretty adorable.
Kari (before)
It has been 2 years since the last time we donated her hair, and she was eager to do it again.
Again, love the cute do.  And, honestly, I love the glasses too!
Now if someone could just teach me the proper way to blow dry their hair so it looked like this more often....
Guess what?  I got mine done too!  I got the length preapproved by hubby, and went at it!
Then I asked the nice girl to flat iron it for me.  For one, with hair like mine it is really difficult to tell the true length or if you have a straight cut.
And for two, I just don't have the time (or the effort) to spare.  And I will say, she was a real trooper.  This took over an hour!
Our three rat tails.  Kari, Kaitlyn, and Mine.  Surprisingly, while Kari's looks like it, Kaitlyn's is actually the longest.
I can't speak personally for the girls, but I kind of love spending less time in the shower!
