An expected visit

They are here, they are here, they are here!!! Unlike my fabulously spontaneous, and personally surprising sister, my parents have been planning this visit for a several weeks. As have I!

Thankfully, I was given the opportunity to use this deadline to get a few things done. We have a tendency to get things 93% completed, poop out, and leave them that way for 8.4 months before we get back to finishing them, and the whole 47 minutes it takes. Like my dah-dee alawys say-hed, Ain't nothin' to cleh-air the heyad lahke bein' shot at. (Yes, I typed that in my best hill billy accent, thankyouverymuch).

Hubby also used this very same reason (finishing projects) to talk me into getting him the table saw of his dreams. Granite table top. Trunnion mounted. Um... a bunch of other fancy sounding words that mean nothing to me. Thankfully, this fabulous saw was on clearance. And, I will admit, it did a pretty fabulous job with the tasks at hand.
We put in the last "roll of itchiness" I mentioned earlier. Insulate Attic: CHECK!
We refurbished an old cabinet, hung it in Dylan's room, and rearranged things a bit. Finish Dylan's room: CHECK!
We rehung the fire alarm we took down when we painted (see... I told you, it would take all of 4 minutes to do, and it took us, 3 months. Oh well): CHECK!
We re-hung the door casing around the wall we extended by about 8 inches. Caulked and painted: CHECK!
And, lastly, hubby designed, created, and installed custom door thresholds for the 2 doorways between the kitchen and the family/dining room: CHECK and DOUBLE CHECK!
BEFORE

DURING
Using his fabulous new toy to make something quite nice.
He says he bought it for me. Yeah right :)
Please forgive all the saw dust in the air. I figure it makes you really feel like you were there ;)
Modifying the door frame just a little bit to make things fit.
As always, Dylan is such a good helper.
"See dad. This is how it goes."
Hey! How'd that get in there. Sorry... {Sheepish/sly grin} After I sanded, stained, and polly-ed them, hubby came back and installed them.
Again, please note Dylan ready to whip hubby into shape (if he needs it :)
FINISHED PRODUCT!
Not bad, am I right?!?! See, who needs to buy those expensive thresholds at the Dee-Pot for $25 a piece, when for the price of a table saw, a sander, some stain and polyurethane, you can have one of these babies?!?!

Wait, is it just me, or did the walls change color from before to during, and from during to after? That's a lot of wall painting.

Also: email coming.

Awesome! And you are not alone in that whole takes months and sometimes years to finish a job... It is taking James to leave us for 17 weeks to get everything finished in the house. :)
